Exam Support 2026

How to revise and prepare for your assessments throughout the senior phase is another skill to develop in school. What works for each individual varies as we take in information in different ways. This powerpoint, which is also visible in the dinner hall, has information on a range of strategies to try out to see which work best for yourself: Study Techniques (gi.ui.mediatype.powerpoint, 21 MB)(opens new window)

Study Leave 2026

Study Leave for the upcoming Qualifications Scotland exam diet for session 2025. 2026 will commence from end of day Friday 17th April with latest return to school being Monday 1st June. This will involve all S4-S6 pupils. Exam timetables will be distributed to pupils at SQA Assemblies in the week beginning 23.3.2026.

As with previous years, during this exam diet period our Senior Phase pupils will be given time to study for and sit their Qualifications Scotland examinations, complete national courses and awards as well as being offered a programme of in-school learning or revision opportunities. This in school programme may vary for each learner.

The In- school learning and revision programme at Deans includes:

· Immersion days for all National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher courses. These will generally be a day or two before the SQA exam and full details will be issued just after the Easter break.

· Opportunities to complete Awards and National 3 and 4 qualifications with a variety of teachers across the school.

· A bespoke 'summer school' opportunity for S4 students sitting between 0-3 National 5 exams. Details of this will be issued to the students involved after the Easter break.

All students are expected to return to school from study leave on Monday 1st June 2026 Further details will follow.

Any student attending school for any reason during the exam period must be in full school uniform.

Many thanks for your support throughout this session in helping your child to achieve the very best they can and I wish all of our learners every success in their exams.

DCHS Student study guide

To support students to achieve their full potential in their upcoming exams, we have created the Deans Community High School study guide for 2026.  This is a practical resource which offers generic study advice, subject specific study advice and practical resources such as study timetable templates.  We hope to add to this over the coming years.
